To start we have to explain first that Water Electrolysis is NOT only producing Hydrogen H2, it is also producing pure Oxygen O2. This Fact is never took into account in any Calculation by presenting this Technology as a Power Storage System for Renewable Energy.
But pure Oxygen or even Ozon is a Side Product that should not just be seen as Waste just because we have 20% in our Atmosphere.
Then Oxygen in a Gas Mixture such as Air, isn't as strong in oxidizing as its pure Gas. A lot of Materials directly start to burn in pure Oxygen even at Room Temperature.
When we burn Garbage or even Coal/Oil/Gas it can be used as an additive for an Hot Exhaust after Burn System to eliminate Pollutant.
We also have to understand that Renewable Energy Sources, for Example in Germany, already produces more Energy in Peak Times that actually is used, but there is no big enough Storage for saving that overproduced Energy. The most comon way to store Power in Peak Times are Storage Lakes where Water is pumped from a lower Altitude to a High Altitude and then released again when the Power Production is low. It is nothing more than a Hydro Power Plant. This seems to be the most efficient way since roughly over 80% of the invested Power can be re-harvested again.
But an Electrolysis Storage has way bigger advantages since it can be built anywhere with way smaller Area need then a Storage Lake and the Hydrogen and the Oxygen can be used in various different applications. At the Moment it's only seen as Methane Production Plant.
Using the Plant to Produce :
Hydrogen : it is Rocket Fuel, Reaction Partner for Hydrogenation of Carbon Dioxide to Methane, Methanol and Formic Acid.
Oxygen : it is also Rocket Fuel, Reaction Partner to Produce Solid Rocket Fuel, but more important it is PURE directly after the Electrolysis and with that can be used as an Additive for Garbage Power Plants to get rid of Dioxins in an Additive Hot Exhaust Oxidation.
It is true that the Production of Methane, the Compression for Storage and the Burning of it to regain the Energy is only at 30-40% Efficiency, so way worse than the 80+% of an Hydro Power Storage, but producing Methanol instead of Methane would already get rid of the Compression Step, making the Procedure already 10-20% more effective. Methanol is not only the Answer to the Storage Problem, it is also the Answer to fuel the Cars on the Planet. Methanol can be used in all Gasoline Motors. The Infrastructure to transport a Liquid Fuel is already existing in every Country. Besides it would be nonsense to rebuild all Cars on the Planet as Electro Cars... The Amount of Energy required would be as high as the last 30 years of producing Cars and would cause way more Pollution by harvesting Lithium and creating the whole new Infrastructure for them.
So the only Question here is :
Is it more economical to just throw the overproduced Energy Peaks away and even Pay for this "Waste Energy" or use it to Power an Electrolysis Plant, that Produces Energy Storage, Fuel for Cars, the Solution for Dioxin Free Garbage Burn and the Raw Material for more complex Hydrocarbons such as Ethylene and Propylene Oxide which again are Raw Materials for all our Plastic we use on the Planet.
This is the Future for Intermittent Renewable Energy if combined with other Technologies, it is the Solution for the Garbage Problem we have by closing the Cycle of Waste and Chemical Products. No extreme Recycling needed, no Toxic Garbage Dumps and no Garbage Working conditions.
The separated Plants on the Picture should not be seen as separated, instead it's a Production Site with all the Departments on it.
In the Future we don't need to save Energy and with that we are able to close such Cycles and use the "Convection Power Plant" to get rid of the Entropy to hold the Energy Depot on our Planet stable.
